| Turmeric |
| Turmeric powder is known for its high medicinal value, and this is the main reason for its inclusion in almost every item in the Indian cuisine. Turmeric is used in India as a home remedy for several general ailments and it is very beneficial for healing abrasions and cuts. Clean the wound and sprinkle some turmeric powder onto it. The antiseptic component in turmeric reduces infection and speeds healing. Leave the wound open to let it dry. As an additional precaution, mix one half of a teaspoon of turmeric powder into a glass of warm milk and drink it to experience a deep sleep without any pain.
Turmeric can be used to maintain softness of the skin after the wound dries and a scab forms. Warm one half of a teaspoon of ghee (clarified butter) and add one pinch of turmeric powder. Use a swab of sterilized cotton to apply this mixture onto the scab. Repeat this procedure three to four times each day until the scab is naturally removed. Be careful when using turmeric this way because it may leave a yellow stain on clothes.

Here is how to use vinegar to treat acne:
Wash the face with a mild facial cleanser and water and pat your skin dry with a soft towel. Apply diluted vinegar (eight parts of water with one part of vinegar) directly to the skin with a cotton ball and do not rinse for a few minutes. For severe acne, create a stronger vinegar solution (for example, mix two or three parts of water with one part of vinegar) and apply the solution directly to the acne-affected areas. Rinse off the solution with warm water after ten minutes.

The omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain cells and help these cells communicate with each other to ensure good mental health. A study of individuals suffering from depression indicated that altering the depressed individuals’ diet to include a serving of fatty fish at least twice or three times each week in meals for five years resulted in a significant reduction in feelings of depression.
Another study demonstrated that individuals who added a daily dose of omega-3 fatty acids (in the form of one to four milligrams of fish oil supplement) to their regular antidepressant treatment had significant improvement in decreasing symptoms of depression including anxiety, sleeping disorders, sadness, decreased libido, and suicidal tendencies. |

| Vitamin C |
| Vitamin C is vital for the production of collagen, the basic protein building block for the fibrous framework of all tissues, including gums. It strengthens weak gum tissue and makes the gum lining more resistant, thus preventing bacterial infection. Use vitamin C as a mouthwash and in the form of a dietary supplement to treat gingivitis.
Mix one half of a teaspoon of crystalline vitamin C (also called Powdered Pure Ascorbic Acid) in one cup of a sugar-free citrus beverage. Swish the mixture in your mouth for a minute and then swallow. Rinse your mouth with fresh water and complete this activity twice each day. Consume one to two slow-release vitamin C capsules (500 milligrams) each in the morning and in the evening. Squeeze one lemon into one glass of warm water and use this mixture as a mouthwash. Chewable and powdered vitamin C can erode the dental enamel so vitamin C is often recommended for mouth rinsing. Remember to rinse your mouth with plenty of fresh water. |

| Amla Or Indian Gooseberry |
| Amla, also known as the “Indian Gooseberry” (Emblica offinalis), has been traditionally used in India as a tonic for hair and several other ailments. It is very rich in vitamin C and it is believed to be a preventive measure rather than a cure for graying hair.
Soak dried amla (Emblic myrobalan) pieces or powder (available at health food supply stores and Indian grocery stores) in water overnight. Strain the amla the next morning and apply the liquid onto hair. Leave the liquid on the hair for an hour and wash it off with a mild shampoo. Combine lemon juice with amla powder and apply the mixture onto hair. Leave it on for a couple of hours and afterwards wash it off with a mild shampoo. Follow this procedure every week. Mix two tablespoons of henna powder with two tablespoons of amla juice. Apply this paste onto gray hair and allow it to dry for 30-45 minutes. Wash the paste out of the hair with a regular shampoo and a conditioner. |
